Amaryllis Environmental Services provides a complete electrical goods disposal management solution. This service meets the requirements of the new legislation – WEEE Directive.

In today's societies White Goods and the larger Electrical and Electronic Goods are ubiquitous – lifecycles are short and improved versions are released frequently. As a result they are replaced regularly and that means a lot of waste. Much electrical waste can be dangerous if it is indirectly released into the environment. Normally they contain substantial amounts of metals (which are toxic in varying degrees) and some items such as refrigerators can contain fluoride gases, which have been the main culprits in ozone depletion.

In January 2002, a new law was introduced regarding the disposal of fridges and other items containing ozone-depleting substances (ODS). The law states that all the ODS must now be 'recovered for destruction' to prevent them being released into the environment.

End of life product is transported to our facility and will be booked in on arrival, detailed and securely logged with a copy of the Vehicle Transfer Note.

Pre-treatment commences with the removal of any component containing hazardous substances (mercury in switches, panels with flame retardant PBB's, etc). The cleaned carcass will then be sent to a WEEE treatment facility. At this stage the raw materials (recyclates) are automatically separated and stored in preparation for selling on to manufacturers who will produce a new product from this raw material.

Certificates of Conformity are issued to clients on completion of the process. Recyclates weight is available to show compliance with the WEEE Directive and Duty of Care.

The process from receipt to total destruction normally takes no more than 3 working days.

We will not undertake refurbishment of refrigeration appliances nor sell your product on to another consumer.

Following the removal of specified substances, the product is TOTALLY DESTROYED and sorted with raw materials sent for recycling.

Amaryllis Environmental Services manages the disposal and recycling of a large variety of electronic equipment including personal computers, printers, audio visual equipment, household appliances, telecommunication equipment, cellular phones, large electric motors and electronic systems.

Prior to disassembly, electronic equipment is sorted at collection sites.

Units that are considered to have the least commodity value (clocks, house telephones, etc.) are sent to an auto shredder for mechanical separation.

Units that have potential value are sent for testing to be reused or refurbished for sale.

Non reuseable items are sorted by type and sent to disassembly facilities.

Raw materials (recyclates) are automatically separated and stored in preparation for selling on to manufacturers who will produce a new product from this raw material.

Recyclates weight will be available to show compliance with the WEEE Directive and Duty of Care.

Certificates of Conformity are issued to clients on completion of the process.
