With over 10 years’ experience, Amaryllis Environmental Services has helped to eliminate previous concerns about quality, long-term cost-benefits and impact on image. Many organisations now choose to remanufacture and refurbish rather than buy new.
Quality furniture manufacturers do not design obsolescence into their products - colours and finishes just become outdated. Refurbishing, using new fabrics and finishes to rejuvenate existing furniture, is an option that should not be overlooked. Customers should consider the financial, aesthetic and environmental benefits of remanufacturing and refurbishment.
Remanufactured product will have an average savings of 30 - 50% over new product. In fact, refurbishing can often be achieved out of an annual expense or maintenance budget, rather than by using capital funds for new product. Even though it offers an affordable price, it does not compromise the integrity of the product or functionality.
Remanufacturing is a completely unique service – transforming a product to create a completely new look, shape and aesthetic. Amaryllis Environmental Services can work with a customer’s architect and designer to create the desired style.
The product is prepared to be refinished. Next, a quality paint finish is applied to the product to give it the look and feel of a brand new item. The panels are re-upholstered in a fabric of the customers choice and a new shaped laminate surface is applied to complete the design and coordination of your workstations. Customers have the opportunity to select the finishes to match their existing products and/or the decor.
Shapes, finishes, aesthetics and design can be completely transformed through the remanufacturing and refurbishment process. The finished product looks ‘as new’ – a completely new interior.
All refurbished furniture is supplied with a comprehensive guarantee to meet relevant British Standards.
Steel Filing Cupboards & Cabinets
The product is prepared by removing all labels, handles, locks and dirt/oil deposits. Any dents or other carcase imperfections are panel beaten out. The unit is coarse sanded to provide a key for the powder coating application and any drawers or shelves are also removed, sanded and primed.
If there are other moving parts within the units, these are removed, lubricated where appropriate and set aside for re-fitting after the paint process is complete. The units are passed through the powder coating plant that applies the water-based paint and bakes the finish until hardened. The units are then refitted with the internal components, label holders and handles. Finally a new lock is fitted and the product is wrapped ready for re-use.

Operator Chairs (Office chairs containing moving parts)
Gas lifts and adjusters are stripped back to their component parts. The gas cylinder must be replaced as the old one will have come to the end of its normal life. The fabrics and foam are removed and discarded into our recycling bins. New fire resistant moulded foam pads, inter liners and fire retardant (FR) fabrics are fitted and the chair is re-assembled and bagged ready for re-supply to the client. Once again in almost every case the savings to our customers will be between 25 - 30% of a new purchase.

Wooden Framed Chairs
The frame is the most important part of the chair. In old pieces, the tacking sections of the rails are often in poor condition and need treatment before re-upholstery can begin. The tacking section may have to be replaced or built up with sawdust and glue. We also re-cramp and glue loose joints of frames, replacing broken springs, webbing, canvas, and padding as required. We also repad using traditional felt paddings, rather than foam wherever possible.
We also re-pad using traditional felt paddings rather than foam, where possible, and will supply new cushions if needed, using only the highest quality, high resilient foam, latex, feather and down or fibre fill. The padding is fire retardant and meets the standards for upholstered furniture used in office and contract environments.
